🌿 Welcome to Prairie City
Beneath the quiet prairie grass lies a world aglow with wisdom, wonder, and wiggly little secrets. Prairie City is no ordinary place—it’s a hidden hub of tunnels, scrolls, and clever critters who believe that learning is life’s greatest adventure. Here, stories echo through glowing halls, math dances on ancient stones, and riddles are as common as acorns. Whether you’re a brave badger, a curious mouse, or a tunnel-traveling reader, you’re welcome in this cozy, quirky city of light, learning, and laughter.
Critter Roll Call!
Say hello to the stars of Prairie City! From tunnel-digging groundhogs to dancing armadillos, these critters bring the charm, chaos, and chuckles to every corner of the underground world.
🕶️ Mayor mole, Molly Mayer
Meet Mayor Mole—Molly Mayer if you’re being proper. With a clipboard in one paw and tunnel dust on her spectacles, Molly keeps Prairie City humming smoother than a worm on roller skates. She’s wise, organized, and just a little bit dramatic (especially about parade permits). Known for her polka-dotted vest and passionate speeches about “the power of pothole prevention,” Molly is beloved by critters of every borough—and secretly writes poetry in the margins of city plans.
🥕 Bunny Baker – Carrot Cake Baker Extraordinaire
In the heart of Prairie City, where the scent of cinnamon swirls through the tunnels, lives Bunny Baker, the fluff-tailed genius behind every crumbly pie and legendary carrot cake. With flour on her ears and joy in her hop, she whisks, whips, and wows the critters of the city with treats that taste like hugs. Her secret? “A dash of kindness, a pinch of giggles, and exactly seven shreds of golden carrot.” Whether you need a slice to celebrate or a pie to puzzle over, Bunny’s bakery is always warm—and so is her welcome.
🛠️ Digger Doug – Tunnel Chief & Groundhog Extraordinaire
When Mayor Molly dreams up a new tunnel project, Digger Doug is the first critter she calls. As Prairie City’s Official Deputy of Digs and Burrows, Doug is the mole crew’s most trusted groundhog—part builder, part brainstormer, and full-time snack smuggler. With a compass in one paw and blueprints in the other (usually upside down), Doug turns tunnel sketches into real twisting masterpieces. He’s patient, practical, and proud of his hard hat collection, and while he doesn’t say much… when he does, it’s usually worth writing on a scroll.
“If it bends, it’s a burrow. If it holds, it’s a home.” – Digger Doug
😏 Marvin Mole – Tunnel Trickster & Serial Troublemaker
Meet Marvin Mole—Prairie City’s #1 expert in “Oops, was that your scroll?” and “I swear the tunnel was like that when I found it.” With a knack for popping up where he’s not supposed to be (and digging detours no one asked for), Marvin is part mole, part mystery, and all mischief. He’s been known to swap signposts, rearrange parade routes, and install trapdoor slides “for fun.” Mayor Molly calls him a “walking tunnel hazard.” Digger Doug calls him “exhausting.” Marvin calls it “art.” Whether he’s sneaking snacks from Bunny Baker’s windowsill or building unauthorized bounce tunnels, one thing’s for sure: Marvin keeps Prairie City guessing.
🐿️ Chip the Chipmunk – Mischief in Motion
If Marvin’s the idea guy, Chip is the blur that makes it happen before anyone can shout “Tunnel code violation!” Small, speedy, and very sneaky, Chip the chipmunk is Marvin Mole’s zippy little partner in pranks. With cheeks full of snacks and a backpack full of gadgets (most of which beep), Chip has never met a plan he didn’t want to turbo-charge. Whether he’s rerouting the Worm Train, launching scrolls from a slingshot, or distracting Mayor Molly with interpretive dance, Chip brings chaos with a chuckle—and always disappears down the nearest pipe before anyone can catch him.
“I call it efficient improvisation. Marvin calls it ‘Run!’” – Chip
🏎️ Rabbit Racing – ZigZag Jack
If you hear a whoosh, a crash, and someone shouting “I meant to do that!”—you’ve just met Rabbit Racing. Blazing through tunnels on a jet-powered carrot scooter (prototype #37), Rabbit isn’t so much fast as he is faster-than-fast-and-barely-in-control. He races worm trains, outruns scroll avalanches, and once delivered pie to every borough in under three minutes—though most of it arrived as “pie dust.” Whether he’s dodging Mayor Molly’s speed limits or dragging Chip into another turbo-tangle, Rabbit’s motto is simple:
“Why walk when you can rocket-hop?”
Some call him a hero, others call him a hazard. Either way, don’t blink—or you’ll miss him.
🕳️ Groundhog Glen – Grumble Glen, The Unplanner
Meet Groundhog Glen—a legend in his own tunnels and a nightmare in Mayor Molly’s filing cabinet. With no blueprints, no approval forms, and absolutely zero intention of following tunnel code, Glen is the prairie’s most prolific (and problematic) pothole pioneer. One moment he’s digging a “shortcut” to the Scrollery, the next he’s accidentally connecting Bunny Baker’s kitchen to the Worm Train express. He claims he’s “freelance,” Digger Doug calls him “freestyle chaos,” and Marvin Mole once called him “a role model” (which explains a lot).
“Why wait for approval when the dirt’s already soft?” – Groundhog Glen
💃 Milo the Dancing Armadillo
When the beat drops in Prairie City, you can bet Milo is rolling out his signature moves—shell-shaking, tail-twirling, and shuffle-stepping his way into critter hearts. With a sparkle in his eye and rhythm in his claws, Milo’s the unofficial party starter who turns even the quietest tunnel into a dance floor. Whether he’s leading the Tunnel Time Parade or showing off his moves at the Talent Show, Milo proves that sometimes, the best way to solve a riddle is with a little boogie and a whole lot of joy.
“Why walk when you can dance?” – Milo
🌱 Howie Worm – The Gardening Worm – Wriggle-Sprout
Slow and steady with a green thumb (or maybe just a really good feel for the soil), Howie Worm is Prairie City’s go-to critter for all things growing and glowing underground. With a smile as warm as freshly turned earth and a knack for turning compost into colorful gardens, Howie makes sure the roots run deep and the veggies grow tall. When she’s not wriggling through the dirt, you might find her humming to her favorite plants or sharing gardening tips that even the busiest critters can follow.
“Life’s better when you compost your worries and grow something great.” – Howie Worm
Whistle Stops on the Worm Train
Climb aboard and explore Prairie City’s most marvelous places and legendary events! Each stop is packed with curious tales, festive fun, and just the right pinch of tunnel trouble.
🌟 The Gatelore Arches
Hidden deep beneath the prairie grass and thistlebrush lie the ancient Gatelore Arches—mystical stonework woven into the roots of the earth, said to be carved by the earliest critter scholars. Known simply as “The Arches” or “The Gates” to locals, these enchanted gateways mark the entrance to the upper tunnel network of Prairie City, also known as “The Vines”.
But beware! The Arches don’t swing open for just any paws or claws. Each one is guarded by a five to ten member team from the legendary Brainy Bunch, clever critters trained to test even the brightest of minds. To pass through, a would-be adventurer must face the Wisdom Trials-first of three, The Trial of Wits and Whiskers—a brain-bending challenge of riddles, puzzles, and cleverness galore.
Succeed, and you may board the fabled Worm Train, the only ride daring (or daffy) enough to twist through the dreaded Labyrinth of Confusion. Fail, and… well, let’s just say you’ll be taking the long way home.
Only the wise—and the wonderfully whimsical—may pass through the Arches.
